American Express Switches Its e‑Voucher Platform

American Express India has officially moved its popular Reward Multiplier e‑voucher program from Gyftr to a new platform called ShopWise, on February 1, 2026.

If you are an Amex credit card user in India, this change directly affects how you buy e‑vouchers and earn Membership Rewards points. From now on, you will use ShopWise instead of Gyftr, but the core benefits largely remain the same, with a smoother, more user‑friendly experience.

What is the Amex Reward Multiplier program?

The Reward Multiplier is a key benefit for American Express cardholders in India. It lets you earn extra Membership Rewards points, typically 5X to 10X more, depending on your card, when you buy e‑vouchers from partner brands.

This includes popular platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, Amazon, Flipkart, etc.

    With this feature:

    • You can reach your card’s spending milestones faster
    • You earn more rewards on everyday purchases
    • You can reduce the effective cost of your premium card by planning voucher buys smartly

    Shift from Gyfter to ShopWise

For years, Gyftr powered Amex’s voucher program. However, many users reported checkout failures during busy times, delayed voucher delivery, stock issues on sale days and a clunky, outdated interface.

ShopWise is American Express’s new gift‑card and voucher website that replaces the old GyFTR platform. Just like Gyfter, It lets you buy e‑gift cards for popular brands like Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, Swiggy, Zomato, travel sites, and more, while earning extra Amex Membership Rewards points on every purchase.

Although old economics like Membership Rewards, convenience fees, and brand access remain the same, the big update is the clean user interface and clarity that ShopWise offers.

    How to access shopWise (Step‑by‑Step)

If you already have an Amex India credit card, getting to ShopWise is simple:

    1. Log in to your American Express India account via the official website or mobile app and click on Rewards & benefits.
    1. Go to the “Reward Multiplier” section under Benefits.
    1. Click or tap “Shop Now”.

    4. Read disclaimer and click on I Agree

This will redirect you to the ShopWise portal, powered by Giftstacc technology.
Your same login details work, and your Membership Rewards balance automatically connects, so you can start buying e‑vouchers immediately.

How will this impact American express card holders?

For Amex cardholders, the shift to ShopWise is a UX‑first upgrade rather than a fundamental change in economics: the same Reward‑Multiplier structure remains, but the way you interact with vouchers, especially Blinkit, becomes cleaner and more predictable.

. You can continue using the Reward Multiplier to:

    • Meet milestone targets (like 1,000 bonus points for 4 transactions of ₹1,500 or more per month on MRCC).
    • Optimise your monthly spending through voucher purchases.
    • access to 200+ brands across retail, dining, travel, and more, you can still earn Membership Rewards points the same way

The convenience fee structure is also similar to the old Gyftr platform, just now with a more convenient and user‑friendly experience.

ShopWise early issues and how to handle them

While the general feedback has been positive, some users faced early glitches during the first days of ShopWise’s launch:

    1. Offline voucher issues

    • Some offline vouchers (like Reliance Digital or Swiggy) were declined at physical stores because staff were not used to the new format.
    • This was mainly due to merchant confusion.

    2. Checkout and order problems

    • A few users reported failed transactions that later succeeded automatically, with vouchers arriving a bit later and rewards credited retroactively.
    • These are typical early‑launch issues and usually get resolved quickly.

What to do If you face problems

You can also write an email to them at : support-shopwise@giftstacc.com

    • Keep your purchase confirmation email handy in case you need to show proof at the store.
    • If the issue is urgent, you can also reach out to American Express customer service by calling this number : 1-800-419-2122 (Toll Free)

If you are new to ShopWise or using it for the first time, start with small test purchases. Buy a small voucher (like ₹100–₹500) to check if the process works smoothly.

When buying a voucher make sure the voucher arrives in your email or app within a few minutes. If it doesn’t, contact support before making large purchases.

    Summary table

Feature Old Way (Gyftr) New Way (ShopWise)
Look & Feel Looked outdated Modern and clean
Points clarity No real‑time points shown; users had to calculate or estimate MR‑points manually MR‑points clearly displayed per voucher at checkout, no guessing needed
Fees 1.5% + GST Remains same
New Brands No blinkit Has blinkit

    Final thoughts

The shift from Gyftr to ShopWise is a big upgrade for American Express India’s digital rewards ecosystem. While the first few days came with some teething problems, the platform is already proving to be faster, cleaner, and more reliable than before.

If you are an Amex cardholder who regularly uses e‑vouchers, this change is a net positive, just take a few minutes to get used to the new ShopWise interface and start small to avoid any initial hiccups.
